Barbie Davidson is a classy stage performer with dynamic vocals and a personality to match!

Winner, of the NZ New Talent (1991) Professional Country Music Recording Awards, with her debut CD “Borderline”, she hasn’t looked back.

Prior to this Barbie earned her pedigree by singing in reception lounge bands, performed in cabaret, had regular TV appearances on local shows like Happen Inn, Hudson & Halls and sang on cruise ships.

In 1988 she moved to Queensland and became that state's Queen of Country with her interesting cross-over style along the lines of kd Lang, Juice Newton, Dolly Parton with a hint of jazz/blues thrown in for good measure.

She appeared in Australia at Tamworth and Charters Towers Country Music Festivals and at the prestigious “Fan Fair” in Nashville USA, appearing on the Warner Music Label stand alongside Charlie Pride and Jeannie C. Riley. She was also support act to Johnny Tillotson, Guy Mitchell and Gene Pitney She also appeared on many TV shows that went throughout Australia.

In 1992 she was invited back with Jade Hurley to NZ to appear in the local TV “Country Down Under Spectacular” recorded at the Auckland Aotea Centre alongside Brendon Dugan, Patsy Riggar, Jodi Vaughan, Gray Bartlett and The Warratahs.

Later on Jodi Vaughan invited her to be part of her group Girls Talk, along with Celine Toner. Their group's highlights were support act for Mr Kenny Rogers and the Mission Vineyard in Napier, and also The Little River Band in Hamilton.

After a time away from the music scene due to a major illness, Barbie is back with rave reviews, appearing at the new theatre in Kerikeri, Northland, “The Centre”, with a Country Rock Show featuring herself, Brendon Ham, James Ray and Chet O’Connell.

She has now released her CD “Two Hearts”, through Zodiac Records and this can be obtained directly through Barbie herself email [email protected]
