Kayla Lightband

Kayla made her debut on stage at just 3 years old, with her mother Michelle Greaves from the well known group Midnite Special.  She is the grand-daughter of legendary Country Western singer Rusty Greaves. 

Kayla has a passion for singing, acting and dancing and has been pursuing these passions since a young age.  With music obviously in her blood, she has grown up with a love of all music, but shares a love of modern Country Music with her parents.

Kayla has spent the last 5 years of her life at Botany Downs Secondary College studying hard, starring in School Productions and taking advantage of every musical opportunity available to her.  Her accolades throughout this time include being a two time nominee for the Variety Artists Club of NZ Rising Star Award and also a nominee for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical at the Showdown Secondary College Awards.  She has also performed with the award-winning duo The Claxton’s on a number of occasions.

Kayla is currently attending South Seas Film & Television School with a goal of one day becoming an actress in TV and Films or Musical Theatre. 

Kayla has a rich, powerful voice and her musical influences growing up were Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Ed Sheeran but her main influences were her Mum, Michelle and her Uncles, Kevin and Lex Greaves.  Kayla also has regular vocal training from Suzanne Lynch who is a wonderful mentor for her.

Kayla lives to perform and as you will see on stage, she has a beautiful voice, great musicality and is a wonderful entertainer.
